In order to stimulate the scientific enthusiasm of young students and inspire their innovative thinking, Professor Pan Zhigeng, dean of the College of Artificial Intelligence (College of Future Technology) of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, together with Zuo Xiangcao and Wang Xinting, graduate instructors of the College of Electronic and Information Engineering, went to Lianyungang High School to carry out the activity of "Popular science Lectures into middle Schools" on the afternoon of April 2nd. The lecture was given by Pan Zhigeng, with the theme of 《Metaverse and Artificial Intelligence》. More than 300 students from Lianyungang Senior High School attended the lecture.

At the beginning of the lecture, Pan Zhigeng explained in detail how to improve the success rate of the college entrance examination from the aspects of choosing the right learning method, improving the learning efficiency, and choosing the college entrance examination preference, combining his own learning experience and his experience as a professor teaching students. Lively words quickly narrowed the distance between students.

Then, Pan Zhigeng formally began the content of the popular science lecture. The lecture mainly focused on three themes: "Virtual reality and Application", "Metaverse technology and application" and "metaverse application scene". Guided by his encounter with the metaverse, he introduced the concept of metaverse, the connection between virtual reality and the metaverse, and expounded the six core technologies of the metaverse. In order to improve students' cognition of the metaverse, Pan Zhigeng divided the cognition of the metaverse into nine realms and introduced them one by one. Starting with simple cases, he explained the changes in human life caused by the development of the metaverse in a simple way, which enhanced the students' cognition. Pan Zhigeng took the current popular "VR glasses" and Zhejiang University's "Water Transport story Half View Hall display system" as examples, vividly told the application of artificial intelligence in People's Daily life, and pointed out that the future development potential of artificial intelligence is unlimited.

Relying on the "Wings of Soaring" college students science and technology volunteer service project of China Association for Science and Technology, the content is novel and the form is lively. The students not only have a deeper understanding of the "Metaverse", but also have a strong interest in the scientific and technological application innovation of virtual reality, but also enhance the students 'scientific research interest and ambition, and the students have said that they benefited a lot.
