Wings of Soaring: The School of Electronics and Information Engineering holds the 6th Beidou Research Camp.

Mar 8, 2024

To spread popular science knowledge of Beidou and cultivate the scientific exploration spirit of teenagers, on July 9, the School of Electronic Information held the 6th Beidou research camp. 35 student volunteers from Nanjing Harmony University Love Garden and parent representatives gathered at our school to participate in this activity. This Beidou research camp is hosted by Wang Xinting, the graduate counselor of the School of Electronic Information. The activity relies on the "Wings of Soaring" college student popular science volunteer service project. Led by the navigator Wang Nan, everyone had a research journey full of educational significance and technological fun.

The first stop is the Linjiang Building laboratory of the "Beidou Sets Sail" popular science education base. In the microelectronics comprehensive test joint laboratory, Qi Boyu showed everyone electronic equipment such as 3D printers, integrated circuit semiconductor parameter analyzers, and optomechatronics experimental systems, and led students to conduct experiments in aspects such as system analysis, design, manufacturing, packaging and testing of microelectronic devices and integrated circuits. Everyone was attentively focused on every instrument explained by the teacher, understanding and learning the operation and use of the machines, and were all amazed by the power and charm of technology.

The second stop is Jianshan Garden. In Jianshan Garden, lifelike statues stand among them, telling the stories of the long river of history and interpreting the flow of artistic emotions. The commentator Gu Yufei took the stories behind each statue as clues and gave the students in-depth explanations of the cultural background and artistic style contained in each work. For students, this is not only an aesthetic enjoyment, but also a spiritual inspiration. Through sculpture works, they felt the shock brought by art and the depth of thought, and expanded their aesthetic vision and cultural cognition. Each sculpture is like a vivid history book, opening a window for students to the art world and the core of human emotions.

The third stop is the microwave building laboratory of the "Beidou Sets Sail" popular science education base. In the microwave building, the commentator Wang Long explained the simple principles of microwave absorption and reflection, and led everyone to visit the compact field microwave anechoic chamber and the electromagnetic compatibility anechoic chamber. In plain language, he explained the mechanism of action of these two anechoic chambers to the students, arousing their strong desire for exploration and yearning for technology.

The fourth stop is the school history museum. The school history museum adopts a combination of traditional and modern exhibition methods. Based on words, pictures and physical objects, it is supplemented by various forms such as models and multimedia to show the school's development process in more than 60 years. From the initial establishment of the school to the current development and changes, every detail vividly shows the historical appearance and cultural accumulation of the school. The commentator Liang Yuxin led everyone to watch the 3D model map of the entire campus. The students gathered in a circle. Through these models, they can see the total of the campus, understand the uses and historical backgrounds of different buildings, and feel the growth process of the school from nothing to something and from small to large.

This Beidou research camp activity ended successfully. This is not only a transmission and experience of scientific and technological knowledge, but also an important educational activity to cultivate the scientific exploration spirit of teenagers. Through personal participation and field experience, students not only expanded their knowledge horizons, but also cultivated their exploration spirit for scientific and technological innovation and application, laying a solid foundation for the cultivation of future scientific and technological talents.
